Knowing what is in our water supply is important to ensure the good health of the population.
The mineral content of water can vary from place to place, lok at any map for the distribution of hard and soft water across the UK. In addition, substances can get into our water that we do not want there, especially nitrates, (from agricultural run-off) and phosphates (from detergents) as well as other substances from industrial processes.
You will find here a suite of tests for some common mineral content of water: boron, calcium carbonates, iron, magnesium, nitrates, nitrites, and phosphates. (more will follow).
