In this project a classical series of cobalt complexes is synthesised and experiments conducted to demonstrate both geometric and linkage isomerism in octahedral complexes.
This project allows the illustration of several features of transition metal chemistry such as chelation, ligand exchange, relating structure to colour, and the analysis of complexes by IR-spectroscopy.
