Distillation of genuine crude oil is no longer technically illegal but we strongly advise against it – the benzene concentration renders it toxic and carcinogenic.
However, it is possible to produce a satisfactory artificial blend of hydrocarbons that can be used to illustrate the procedure. (Recipe included).
