This brand new course for June 2024 aims to support teachers delivering senior phase Biology assignments. This will include sessions aligned to the N5, Higher and Higher Human course specifications. In addition, many of the practical sessions will be applicable for AH Biology projects and, of course, provide ideas that can be utilised at various points throughout BGE and Senior phase courses to enhance curriculum delivery. The course will take place at SSERC in Dunfermline over two days.
For each session, we will explore different independent variables and methodologies to facilitate the range of experiments outlined by the SQA per class. The topics include:
- Various low-cost enzyme investigations suitable for large-scale assignment work across a faculty
- Photosynthesis
- Respiration
- Fermentation
- Outdoor studies
- Fertilisers
- Transpiration
- Cell survival
The programme is jam-packed with lots of new ideas that are simple to carry out and keeping things as low cost as possible.
If you have any questions prior to submitting an application, please do get in touch with the course leader, Annie McRobbie.
