Some years ago I did a version of this but there were various Google-related issues – but now seems the time to revise it.

there are six’ layers’ that you can switch on and off:

  1. Birthplaces of Scottish scientists
  2. Death places of the same
  3. Places where they are buried
  4. Houses they lived in
  5. Sites relating to Scotland’s Oil Shale boom.
  6. Other industrial sites related to chemistry: mines, refineries, etc.

you can find the original on Google Maps here – https://tinyurl.com/ek9ndjzk

Accuracy is often extremely difficult in many of these cases so my apologies in advance. If anyone wants to suggest a correction or an update, please email me at (chris.lloyd@sserc.scot)
